Let’s talk a little bit about astronomy Geocentric and Heliocentric

Let’s delve a little deeper into the terms of the topic presented to us today, which is a little about the differences in astronomical theories that existed since 310 B.C. You can imagine with the astronomer Aristarchus, who was the first to declare that the Sun was the center of the universe, which at that time was disapproved since the theory remained that the Earth was the center of the universe.

But to have a little more understanding of the subject let’s see what is the difference in both theories.

Characteristics of the Geocentric model

  • Earth absolute center of the Universe, saying that the Earth is huge (which is false).
  • The Sun also revolves around the Earth (which is impossible).

Characteristics of the Heliocentric model

  • The Sun is the center of the universe, which makes a little more sense because the Sun is a medium-sized star of great plus and power. Although on second thought this is not the center of the galaxy or the universe but when we make our natural science models we know that it is the center of the Solar System.

Let’s watch this short video that provides a visual aid for both theories.

What do you think, which one do you support the most and why do you think it is more in line with our current reality?
