Evolution is just a theory?

Over the years, different theories have been put forward that try to explain the diversity that exists between species.

Let’s explore the theories that have existed until today

  • Fijism and Creationism occurred at the beginning of the 19th century, which explains the diversity that exists among species justified as creations of God that remain immutable through time, giving rise to Creationism (God’s creation) and fixism (species do not vary over time). These concepts arose from the literal interpretation of Genesis and other sacred books.
  • Catastrophism theory was proposed by the naturalist Georges Cuvier (father of paleontology) who argued that the disappearance of living beings was a consequence of some natural catastrophe, but that those living beings that existed in the past remained unchanged.
  • Lamarckism proposed by Jean Baptistre de Lamarck and defended that one species transformed into another over time. How? The changes produced in the environment make living beings adapt to the environment by modifying certain organs based on their use, thanks to these acquired characters they are inherited and remain from generation to generation
  • Darwinism defends that evolution does not depend on changes in the environment but on the chance of genetics, despite the fact that the word mutation is usually a negative word, evolution is thanks to them due to the mutations that occur in our genetic material.
  • Neo-Darwinism, the most current theory of evolution, is based on the fact that genetic variability is due to mutations and the genetic recombination process, triggering evolutionary change in a process known as natural selection.

What do you think? Do you agree with any of them or have your own theory.
